BIOLUMINESCENCE
The Experience of Fish Swimming through the Bioluminescent Plankton (wip)

Week 04 | 02/16/2023
Bioluminescence is light produced by a chemical reaction within a living organism, species include fish, bacteria, jellyfish, plankton, fireflies, fungi, etc. Light is used to hunt prey, defend against predators, find mates, and execute other vital activities.
Bioluminescent plankton are single-celled organisms which are found all over the world. The light from then is caused by chemical reactions through their mechanical stress. They use light as defense.
In our project, we want to recreate the magic of the “sea sparkles” through an installation. We will imagine and try to convey the experience of fish swimming through the bioluminescent plankton.
