Week 08 | 10/27/2022
We redesigned Jean LeBlanc’s look. The main poster from week 07 stayed the same but we decided to introduce some cubist style in the character’s front and side views, inspired by some early 20th century art movements.
Above is a series of storyboards. At the moment, there are four major scenes:
Camera zooms in one of the headlines from The New York Times’ April 16, 2019 newspaper, which is about the fire that happened at Notre Dame de Paris, on April 15, 2019.
Inside the cathedral, we give one of the sculptures a close-up — not a full close-up, so audiences can see the fire in the cathedral. The sculpture stands alone in the scene, along with fire and collapsing roof.
After the fire, the cathedral became completely silent. Fire ruins are filled on the floor, however, there are still a few sculptures that remain standing. Suddenly, a light beam pours in and shoots on one of the sculptures, which is the one that receives close-up in scene 2, which is our character, Jean LeBlanc. LeBlanc slowly moves forward and starts wandering in the cathedral.
Jean LeBlanc wanders in the nave, the only sound audiences are able to hear in this scene is his sword scraping the floor. He wanders lonely and wistfully.
The writing from week 07 is fully about the character’s background, and it is based on true history, although Jean LeBlanc is not a real person in that period (actually, who knows).
