BACH x MONET
Synthetic Graphic through Waveform in p5.js
Fall 2022
Course: Computational Media
Instructor: John Henry Thompson
Following Johann Sebastian Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major, Felipe Sarro played a piano version of the Prélude.
In this project, the waveform of a piano piece serves as the basis for creating a graphic that visually represents the music. Each peak of the waveform is recorded and translated into the dimensions of a series of ellipses. These ellipses are randomly placed on a canvas that spans the entire screen. Drawing inspiration from the late works of Claude Monet, each ellipse features unique color and alpha levels, aiming to evoke a subtle representation of impressionism paintings.
